Dog owner arrested after pit-bulls attack, kill dog

I can think of alot of ways my tax money could be spent instead of wasting time and money prosecuting over a dog. This is ridiculous for real. People you all need to prioritize. If your animals are that important to you move into seclusion and you never have to worry about anything happening to them. Don't waste my tax dollars on non-humans. The money wasted at these shelters could be money spent on babies, children and adults who need shelter; food; medical help. This is a sad time when a dog or cat can see a Dr. before my child can see one because no insurance. You people need to wake up smell the coffee and keep animals in their place in the wild. You hooped and hoolered when Michael Vick was sent to prison...did you know that you now are supporting him cause people are stupid.

SurePayroll Named to Inc. Magazine’s Top 500 List of Fastest-Growing ...

Online payroll service SurePayroll ranked 194 in Inc 500, with over 600% revenue growth over the past 3 years.

CHICAGO, IL September 11, 2006 — SurePayroll, the nation's leading online payroll provider, was ranked 194 on the prestigious Inc. 500 list of fastest-growing U.S. companies. SurePayroll was one of only 200 companies to make the list for two consecutive years.

Founded in 1999, SurePayroll was the first to market an online payroll processing service, and now services over 17,000 small businesses nationwide. Since its inception, the company has processed over 1million payrolls.

SNP criticises Alexander’s month of ‘self-imposed silence’

The issue of an illegal donation to Ms Alexander's leadership campaign could not have come at a worse time for Labour, which was coming under fire for accepting £600,000 in donations through proxies acting on behalf of the North of England property developer David Abrahams.

The Metropolitan Police are investigating whether anyone should be charged over this illegal use of go-betweens.

July 2005

I think what's going on in Guantanamo Bay and other places is a disgrace to the U.S.A.," he told a news conference at the Baptist World Alliance's centenary conference in Birmingham, England. "I wouldn't say it's the cause of terrorism, but it has given impetus and excuses to potential terrorists to lash out at our country and justify their despicable acts."

Carter said, however, that terrorist acts could not be justified, and that while Guantanamo "may be an aggravating factor … it's not the basis of terrorism…….

….What has happened at Guantanamo Bay … does not represent the will of the American people," Carter said Saturday. "I'm embarrassed about it, I think its wrong. I think it does give terrorists an unwarranted excuse to use the despicable means to hurt innocent people."

Earlier this month, Carter called for the Guantanamo prison to be shut down, saying reports of abuses there were an embarrassment to the United States.

Beardstown leaders going to Washington

BEARDSTOWN — Beardstown Mayor Bob Walters plans to speak about immigration reform face-to-face with staff members of several U.S. Representatives and Senators this week. Both he and Beardstown Police Chief Tom Schlueter embark on a three-day trip to Washington D.C. today. The mayor said the trip was scheduled for the two men to discuss the major concerns facing the river city. On top of the list, of course, is immigration, he said. The trip comes less than two weeks after a 30-year-old Beardstown resident and illegal immigrant was shot and killed by a 25-year-old Beardstown man. The alleged shooter, Jesus E. Gomez Meneses is also reportedly an illegal immigrant. At Tuesday’s City Council meeting, Mayor Walters commended Chief Schlueter and his department for their diligence and handling of the recent homicide.

7 Newark employees charged in thefts

The Newark Inspector General's Office this afternoon announced charges against five municipal workers who allegedly used their city-issued gasoline cards to give themselves and their friends free fill-ups.

Two other city employees have been arrested for other thefts, Inspector General James Wright said: one who swiped a breast cancer donation can from his Division of Traffic and Signals office, and a temporary worker who forged co-workers' signatures on several small loans.

In all, the thefts amounted to more than $17,500, but stopping them, particularly the gas schemes, likely saved the city hundreds of thousands of dollars, Wright said.

The arrests are the first announced by the Inspector General's Office since Mayor Cory Booker created it last summer to root corruption out of city hall.

Listen-up Ladies: Don't Postpone Knee-replacement Surgery

Research at the University of Delaware indicates that women wait longer to pursue knee-replacement surgery than men do.

By postponing surgery until they can no longer stand the pain, these women may also risk putting their mobility, and quality of life, on hold indefinitely, according to Lynn Snyder-Mackler, Distinguished Alumni Professor in UD's Department of Physical Therapy and a certified sports physical therapist and athletic trainer.

"Doctors typically tell patients to wait to have knee replacements until they just can't stand the pain any longer," Snyder-Mackler said. "Our research shows that's bad advice--and worse for women than it is for men--because your level of function going into surgery generally dictates your level of function after surgery," she noted.
