Delta Dental buys lens factory
The empty 7-year-old factory beside Interstate 581 in Roanoke that once housed Johnson & Johnson's Spectacle Lens division has been sold to a local company, Delta Dental of Virginia. The purchase price was $7 million according to a deed in the Roanoke courthouse, less than half the $14.6 million value listed on the city's tax books for the 146,000-square foot, technologically equipped building. Michael Wise, chief financial officer for Delta Dental, said his company purchased an option on the factory with plans to move its operations, now on Starkey Road Southwest, into the building at 2797 Frontage Road NW. "The more we looked, the more we decided it was not feasible at this time" to move Delta Dental's offices into the manufacturing structure, Wise said.
Two bodies found in county - Mother, daughter appear to be suicides
They have to seek help on their own. Imagine that! A person wants to die, yet has to be "rational" enough to seek help! How stupid! I sought to have her involuntarily committed to get evaluated, but thats almost impossible.....they have to actually attempt suicide first. The family members just have to pray that first attempt is unsuccessful! And people wonder WHY there are so many suicides here!! All this talk about "if someone says they are going to kill their self, take it seriously and get them help" is pure Bullsh*t! Nothing but the Mental Health systems PR crap. Under the current policy, the only person who can seek help is the very one who is wanting to die. A loved one can NOT get it for them! .
Report: Malaysian teacher reprimanded for making Hindu students shave ...
Hussain could not immediately be reached, and the education officer investigating the case declined to comment. The students were growing their hair as part of a ritual for the Thaipusam festival that was celebrated on Jan. 23. Many ethnic Indians, who form 8 percent of Malaysia's 27 million population, let their hair grow for a certain period and have themselves shaved on Thaipusam day. The Star did not identify the teacher's religion. The incident is a reflection of growing racial friction, which threatens to unravel the country's carefully nurtured ethnic and religious pluralism. About 60 percent of the population is Muslim Malay, and the minority Indians and Chinese are concerned that a pro-Muslim tilt in the civil service and judiciary is eroding their religious rights.
Coca-Cola League Two round-up
I said if we kept clean sheets we would win games, but this counts for nothing if we don't do the same against Mansfield on Tuesday." Chester City(0) 0 Rotherham United (1) 1 Rotherham manager Mark Robins hailed his side after they ground out an ugly away win to cut MK Dons' lead at the top of the table to four points. Chris O'Grady's seventh-minute strike proved decisive, the forward firing in his ninth goal of the season from the edge of the box. Chester, promotion chasers earlier in the season, have now collected just one point from their last seven matches. Robins said: "It wasn't pretty to watch but it was a case of grinding a result out." Morecambe (0) 1 Notts County (1) 1 Morecambe manager Sammy McIlroy praised his players' character after they fought back to earn a draw and avoid losing a third successive game.
