FOX News Poll: McCain Makes Late Surge In New Hampshire—Takes Top ...

Opinion Dynamics Corp. conducted the telephone poll of 500 likely Republican primary voters in New Hampshire for FOX News from January 4 to January 6. The poll has a 4 point error margin.

The poll also found that supporters of Huckabee (73 percent), McCain (72 percent) and Romney (72 percent) are about equally certain of their vote—with backers of Giuliani the least sure of their commitment (66 percent).

Gray craves inside info

The more quality people you have on your staff, the better off your team will be,'' Boylan said. ''The players will profit from it. I have a great staff right now. All the guys work their tails off. If you can add someone else who can fit in with that and have the same approach -- really come in and work and be a guy who spends the time with the players, develops them, counsels them -- it would be a help.''

The Bulls face the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight and Wednesday in a rare home-and-home series. The T-wolves own the league's worst record (8-35) but have won three of their last four games, and 6-10, 265-pound Al Jefferson is averaging 21.1 points and 12.1 rebounds.

Forward Luol Deng will miss a fifth game because of left Achilles tendinitis, and guard Chris Duhon (bruised left knee) also remains out.

Special districts: Big salaries, little oversight

Two laborers in the Oyster Bay sewer district, whose duties include "unskilled or semi-skilled manual tasks," each make an annual base salary of $101,000.

A recreation aide, who performs such tasks as organizing games, makes $47 an hour in the Fishers Island ferry district.

And a meter reader, a job that requires only a high school education, according to a Civil Service job description, in the Jericho water district made $93,772 last year -- nearly two and a half times the average earnings for meter readers statewide.

Target chairman, CEO Ulrich retiring May 1

Steinhafel has been called the heir apparent to Ulrich since 2005, when former vice chairman Gerald Storch abruptly left the company.

Today's news is not too surprising and the transition should be fairly simple, said Joseph Feldman, Telsey advisory group, in New York City who follows Target.

"The new guy is really the old guy. He's been Bob's partner for the past 30 years, essentially, and he's been an integral part of the strategy." Feldman said Steinhafel's first priority will be trying to keep up the sales growth at Target, which slowed in the latter half of 2007.

"To me, righting the ship on that front should come first," Feldman said.

At Target, Steinhafel's known as the "style cop" that makes sure Target keeps up its image of having unique and trend-setting merchandise.

Dental clinic students pair up with dummies

"Demolished it," Swingdorf said from behind his blue surgical mask. But there was little alarm in his voice as his computer monitor flashed red, informing him he had just damaged his patient's medial adjacent tooth.

Fortunately for Swingdorf, his patient was only a lifelike mannequin, and with a price of $1.72 a plastic tooth, what could've been a real-life dental nightmare turned into a relatively painless procedure.

Starting this semester, dental students will get a lot of face time with the simulated patients. The University School of Dentistry's new Advanced Simulation Clinic opened for classes Monday, completing another phase in the school's upgrade process.

The Advanced Simulation Clinic, a newly built facility in Moos Tower, houses 20 work stations, complete with dental tools, a flat-screen monitor and a realistic mannequin with soft, rubbery cheeks - a $75,000 package.

City braces for another whopper snowstorm

Even though a few hangovers remain from an early December storm, Montrealers are again bracing for snow.

The city will get blasted with 20 to 30 centimetres starting early tomorrow, Environment Canada says. Mountainous regions and areas south of the city could get up to 40 centimetres.

"The storm is very comparable in intensity and trajectory to the one that hit on Dec. 3," Environment Canada meteorologist André Cantin said.

Wind chills this weekend headed to 30 below

CHICAGO (AP) — Warming shelters are opening across portions of Illinois as the state braces for fierce winter weather expected to bring wind chills as low as 30 degrees below zero. The bitter weather is an unwelcome end to what had been an unusually warm January for much of the state. The National Weather Service forecasts the arctic cold front will arrive in Illinois Friday evening. Twenty warming centers will open statewide from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. State warming centers include Illinois Tollway Oases and Illinois Department of Human Services rehabilitation offices and family community resource centers.

Jon Mark Beilue: AC works hard for city

Urban legend: Amarillo College is the No. 2-ranked junior college/community college in the state of Texas.

That bit of apparent misinformation has been floating around since the early 1970s when All-American Larry Kenon was roaming the basketball court for the Badgers.

But it's simply not true. It's simply not true because there have never been any kind of rankings like that.

"U.S. News & World Report ranks the universities, but there's no comparable rankings for community colleges,'' said Dr. Paul Matney, vice president and dean of instruction at AC.

"While we would love it if it were true, it's not. But we believe we're an outstanding institution that can stack up with anybody."

Urban truth: AC quietly and efficiently goes about its business in educating 20,000 students each year and equipping them for four-year universities as well as the current technical and medical job force.
